Job Description

Deliver impactful change with our defence sector digital clients, working alongside senior leaders across the full breadth of the military services. Turner & Townsend’s Digital Delivery (Defence) team are seeking project professionals with recent defence experience and relevant certifications or experience in one or more of the Product & Delivery Roles defined in the UK Government Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) framework. This role is specifically for a Product Manager – who is responsible for product quality and value, working with the team to identify, implement and improve strategies and tactics for their products. They might recruit and manage people in the product profession, ensuring people with the right skills are hired, supported and developed. This can be an entry‑level role for new product managers who have been working in other digital roles.
Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with senior defence leaders to define product strategy and deliver measurable outcomes.
- Identify, prioritise and own product initiatives that support digital transformation across the military services.
- Recruit, develop and manage a high‑performing product team, ensuring the right skills are hired, supported and advanced.
- Integrate rapidly into high‑performing teams and navigate ambiguity, complexity, senior stakeholders and deliver measurable outcomes across the full digital delivery and project management lifecycle.
Qualifications – Essential
- Defence Sector Experience – Recent experience in the Defence industry (public or private sector) supporting change initiatives, with awareness of the strategic context surrounding the digital change outlined in the 2025 Strategic Defence Review.
- DDaT Specialist Role Competency – Proven capability supporting digital change and a confident practitioner in one or more of the DDaT‑defined delivery roles listed above (level 3 – 4).
- Full Project Lifecycle Knowledge – Strong understanding of a complete digital delivery and project management lifecycle, including bidding, project initiation, delivery and close‑out.
- Agile Delivery Experience – Ability to integrate rapidly into high‑performing teams, assume suitable Agile roles and support successful digital transformation projects, navigating ambiguity and complexity, engaging senior stakeholders and delivering measurable outcomes.
- Flexibility & Mobility – Willingness to travel to UK client sites as required.
Qualifications – Desirable
- Experience working directly with Defence Digital or more than one military command, with the willingness and ability to act as a future relationship manager – building networks, supporting key client leads, shaping bids and supporting resource deployment.
- Project Management Qualifications – Eg: APM PMQ, Agile or Scrum with hands‑on project management experience (full lifecycle) and the flexibility to adapt between traditional and iterative methodologies.
- Systems Modelling & Architecture – Experience in model‑based systems engineering and data architecture (including frameworks such as TOGAF and NAF), with the ability to apply these approaches in delivery projects.
- Data Tools Proficiency – Familiarity with data and analytics platforms and software, such as those on Palantir or with the Google Cloud platform.

Working in Teams/Office & Site Attendance
Turner & Townsend recognises the importance of helping its employees harmonise their work and home life by offering hybrid working, that enable them to balance their working life with other priorities. At the same time T&T recognises that employee office and site attendance must always remain in line with the demands of the business and clients. Currently, we anticipate you being on client sites or Turner & Townsend offices 60% of your time which may include travel, but this may flex depending on client and business requirements.
