The Defence Infrastructure Cost Centre provides support to projects that range in complexity and size with our service offerings spanning across Programme and Project Management, Project Planning, Cost Engineering, Risk Management, and Commercial Disciplines. We provide support to the full project lifecycle both pre-contract and post contract, delivering infrastructure projects on behalf of our clients, that range from several hundred thousand pounds in value to major projects and programmes worth over £200M. We are actively looking to expand the team due to client requirements and have talented individuals join us who will support our Defence client portfolio, whilst further developing their career, working on a range of complex and challenging commissions.
Main purpose of role
- To lead Project Management Commissions, taking responsibility for end-to-end service delivery.
- Work with clients, while managing the existing key accounts and developing new and existing relationships.
- To provide support on major Project Management Commissions, taking responsibility for an aspect of service delivery.
- Managing and controlling the commercial aspects of projects and programmes; experienced to be able to lead monthly budgeting/forecasting and managing project budgets.
- Managing the schedule and wider elements of complex projects and programmes.
- To ensure that client objectives are met and that projects are delivered to time and cost targets and the appropriate quality standards.
- Supporting clients as they transition to Net Zero and deal with wider changes to make themselves more sustainable.
- Building long-term trusted advisor relationships with our clients.
Qualifications Requirements
- Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject with relatable experience.
- A relevant professional qualification with the APM, PMI or Prince 2.
- Demonstratable experience managing / administering NEC contracts (or another form such as JCT) and their practical application.
- Project management experience across a range of disciplines and within industry sectors.
- Able to construct and maintain project plans and familiar with project planning software such as Primavera or Microsoft Project.
Desirable
- Previous experience of working with UK Government and Tier 1 organisations would be beneficial, particularly Defence.
- NEC PMA accreditation and proficiency in managing these types of contracts would be advantageous and use of contract management software eg CEMAR.
- Experience in the construction and infrastructure sectors in regulated environments and their stages (ie RIBA).
- Experience of project management and/or programme management, adding value at the initial strategic planning phase all the way into implementation, construction and delivery in the context of infrastructure projects and programmes.
- Bid Management experience.
- Full Membership, or working towards full membership of a relevant chartered body; MAPM, MCIWEM, MICE, MCIOB, MRICS etc.
- Experience coaching junior Project Managers.
Security Clearance
Important: Before applying, due to the sensitive nature of these projects, you must be a SOLE UK National who is able to achieve and maintain UK MoD Security Clearance (SC). Many of the clients and projects we support are subject to MoD security clearance and Trade Control restrictions.
Working in Teams/Office & Site attendance

Currently, we anticipate you being on client sites or Turner & Townsend offices 60% of your time which may include travel, but this may flex depending on client and business requirements.
