Overview of the Associate Director - Delay role at Turner & Townsend. You will be involved in delivering Expert Witness services and Recovery services for projects and major programmes, with opportunities to lead on delay matters and develop expertise within our team.
Responsibilities
- Assist delay experts in delivering delay reports for adjudication, litigation and other forms of dispute resolution as part of our Expert Witness services.
- Assist contract and commercial specialists in providing strategic advice to clients whose projects and major programmes are in commercial distress as part of our Recovery service.
- Undertake detailed analysis of construction projects (UK and international) to support the team in delivering high-quality outcomes.
- Operate with a forensic and exploratory mindset; have a strong knowledge of the construction industry; understand construction contracts and the law; value transparency and collaboration; and be able to work independently while adapting to others therefore contributing to the team.
- Possess the opportunity to establish your own path to becoming a leading Expert through mentoring, leadership of strategic objectives, and growing the firm’s market presence with direct links to leadership in the UK.
- Travel may be required due to the global nature of the portfolio, with the understanding that most work can be delivered remotely and from a local office base to maintain team cohesion.
Qualifications
- Relevant construction and engineering industry experience (10+ years).
- A construction-related degree and/or legal qualification.
- Experience in leading the pursuit of claims up or down the supply chain and obtaining negotiated resolutions.
- Ability to understand and articulate Client requirements and desired outcomes.
- Strong analytical ability to identify root causes of distress in projects and major programmes.
- Ability to lead development of a contract and commercial strategy to recover performance of distressed projects or programmes in line with Client outcomes.
- Effective stakeholder management with Clients and at all levels of the supply chain; ability to chair meetings with Clients and other advisors as necessary.
- Experience reviewing project records to establish delay related to claims and disputes; ability to assess strengths and weaknesses of Client claims and provide strategic advice on proceeding or adjusting the basis of claim.
- Experience assisting clients, lawyers and counsel in developing positions; supporting the drafting of detailed expert witness reports for use in formal dispute resolution; and leading the drafting of such reports.
- Keeping up-to-date with developments in own technical area; providing direction to staff working on specific tasks; and supporting client and consultant interfaces at all project stages.
- Ambassadorship for Turner & Townsend’s Contract Services and the ability to contribute to our service delivery within the industry.
