Overview
As Principal contracting & procurement manager, you will lead contracting strategy and procurement across major energy transition projects, ensuring value, risk control, and strong supplier partnerships.
You will provide commercial leadership throughout the project lifecycle and align procurement approaches with project goals and governance.
You will work with cross-functional teams to optimise contracts and deliver critical infrastructure efficiently.
Your role helps shape commercial best practice and drives sustainable outcomes for large-scale energy programs.

Responsibilities
- Lead development and execution of contracting and procurement strategies
- Act as commercial and contractual SME advising on procurement approaches, contract models, and market trends
- Manage end-to-end procurement activities: sourcing, tendering, negotiation, evaluation, and contract award
- Draft, negotiate, and administer high-value contracts with risk management
- Lead contract management activities: variations, claims, disputes, change control
- Monitor contractor/supplier performance for contractual compliance and delivery
- Identify and manage commercial, contractual, and supply chain risks while seeking value optimisations
- Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders, contractors, suppliers, and strategic partners
- Drive governance, compliance, reporting, and continuous improvement across contracting and procurement
- Key requirements
- Significant experience in Contracting, Procurement, Commercial, or Supply Chain Management within Energy, Infrastructure, Oil & Gas, Renewables, or Energy Transition sectors
- Proven track record delivering contracting and procurement strategies for major capital projects
- Experience managing high-value contracts through full lifecycle from tender to close-out
- Strong knowledge of NEC, FIDIC, LOGIC, or other standard forms of contract
- Demonstrable commercial negotiation skills with focus on value and risk management
- Experience managing contract variations, claims, disputes, and commercial change processes
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills across multidisciplinary teams
