We are seeking an experienced Senior or Principal Sustainability Consultant to play a key role in leading our growing UK building certification team. Working closely with our UK and international sustainability specialists—who have helped shape global Net Zero Carbon frameworks—you will support business development, strengthen our market presence, and promote our innovative sustainability services. In this leadership role, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary colleagues to design, analyse, model, report, and present sustainability strategies across a diverse project portfolio. You will be central to expanding our team’s capabilities and driving high-quality delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the delivery of building certification projects and competitive bids.
- Provide expert technical guidance on BREEAM, WELL and other certification schemes.
- Support clients in setting decarbonisation targets and defining practical pathways to achieve them.
- Assist senior colleagues in the successful delivery of projects.
- Coordinate with clients, project partners and key stakeholders.
- Deliver strategic sustainability advice during early project design stages.
- Produce concise technical summaries and detailed technical reports.
- Analyse large datasets and translate findings into clear, robust outputs.
- Mentor junior consultants and provide support to senior team members.
- Oversee internal quality assurance procedures.
- Recommend effective low carbon design measures to clients and designers.
- Present technical findings and project outcomes to clients.
Skills & Expertise
- Strong understanding of building design, construction processes, and material performance.
- Demonstrated leadership and team development capabilities.
- Deep knowledge of BREEAM, WELL, and other environmental performance standards.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to guide multidisciplinary teams through certification processes.
- Experience preparing and leading tenders and proposals.
Qualifications
- Degree (or equivalent) in engineering, architecture, building services or related discipline.
- Strong grounding in environmental impact assessment and environmental science.
- 5+ years’ experience in sustainability consulting within the built environment.
- Licensed BREEAM Assessor.
- Proven experience delivering certification projects and leading or mentoring teams.
- Experience integrating low carbon and climate resilient design solutions.
- Commercial awareness related to business development, marketing, and proposal writing.
- Excellent communication skills and proactive problem‑solving abilities.
