The ERM Director is primarily responsible for the development, implementation and management of Turner & Townsend’s Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework. This is a global role which promotes the use and understanding of ERM across the business and provides support to management on the identification and assessment of risks, as well as associated monitoring and reporting responsibilities. This role can be based in either London or Leeds.

Main Responsibilities
  • Lead Turner & Townsend’s ERM programme, aligning wherever possible to CBRE’s ERM framework. This includes annual refreshes of policies and procedures, monitoring business compliance to the process and guiding the integration of ERM activities within the strategic planning process.
  • Work with the broader RM function and other internal stakeholders to better define, embed and update when necessary, Turner & Townsend’s risk appetite, including the development of risk appetite statements, key risk indicators (KRIs), early warning indicators and risk tolerance limits.
  • Work with the Regional teams to support implementation and adaptation of the ERM programme locally.
  • Oversee and co‑ordinate the risk assessment process (both centrally and in region), supporting regular reviews and updates to the corporate and regional risk registers, respectively.
  • Undertake and refresh country capability assessments, in conjunction with the broader RM function and the regional teams, to confirm compliance with agreed risk appetite and governance protocols.
  • Provide input into the suitability and effectiveness of controls, action plans, mitigation activities and the overall quality of risk data associated with key risks.
  • Facilitate horizon scanning activities, to support the identification of principal and emerging risks.
  • Design and deliver scenario planning, promoting preparedness for high‑impact events.
  • Provide regular monitoring, reporting of risk exposure and analytics to senior leadership and the relevant boards and committees.
  • Aggregate regional risks as part of senior leadership reporting.
Business engagement
  • Work with the broader Risk Management team and other stakeholders to ensure systems, processes and controls meet legal, regulatory and internal requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement towards higher levels of risk maturity and operational consistency across the business.
  • Support any policy changes required as a result of legal & regulatory changes impacting the business/specific regions.
  • Develop, deliver and monitor ERM training programmes across the business.
  • Champion a strong risk culture by driving ongoing awareness initiatives, supporting "tone from the top" communications, and providing leadership and guidance on risk management concepts to foster continuous improvement.
  • Provide crisis management support, where necessary.
  • Assist with mergers and acquisitions due diligence, where necessary.

The ERM Director will report to the Global Head of Risk Management, who is based in London. They will primarily interface with other functions in Risk Management (RM), including Enterprise Risk Management, Assurance, Legal & Contract risk, Ethics & Compliance and Data Privacy as well as the RM Board; Operational teams, including Regional Managing Directors, Regional Boards, Regional RM Board reps, etc.; Other Central Services teams, such as Finance, HR, etc.; Other related risk roles, such as SOX monitoring teams; Executive leadership, including the CEO, COO and CFO; CBRE’s Legal and Risk, Ethics & Compliance (REC) teams.

Qualifications
  • Ideally to be professionally qualified in a risk qualification e.g. through the Institute of Risk Management, or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Demonstrable experience of developing and delivering an ERM programme, ideally within a global, professional consultancy and/or construction related business.
  • Proven knowledge of risk management techniques, including the application of risk appetite.
  • Efficiently and effectively communicate technical ERM concepts to non‑specialists.
  • Be able to work flexibly across other time zones when necessary.
  • Self‑motivated, pro‑active and resilient.
