Turner & Townsend are currently recruiting for an exciting opportunity to support estate-wide fire safety management and asset assurance activities across both fissile and non-fissile environments.

Estate Management – Fire Safety Support
  • Provide fire safety support for estate management activities, including small works across fissile and non-fissile sites.
  • Review proposed works to ensure fire safety considerations are appropriately addressed and integrated.
  • Advise on fire safety implications of estate changes, refurbishments and maintenance activities.
  • Support project teams in delivering compliant and risk-appropriate fire safety solutions.
Fire Asset Review and Assurance
  • Undertake detailed reviews of fire safety assets including:
    • Fire detection and alarm systems (including VESDA).
    • Compartmentation.
    • Fire doors and passive fire protection measures.
  • Assess condition, performance and compliance of fire safety systems across the estate.
  • Identify deficiencies, risks and required remedial actions.
Standards and Specification Development
  • Support the development of site-wide fire safety standards and specifications.
  • Contribute to consistency and best practice in fire asset management across the estate.
  • Provide technical input into policies, procedures and guidance documents.
Stakeholder Engagement and Reporting
  • Engage with estate teams, project stakeholders and technical specialists.
  • Produce clear reports outlining findings, risks and recommended actions.
  • Support prioritisation of remedial works based on risk and operational impact.
Qualifications
  • Level 4 Diploma (or equivalent) in a fire-related discipline.
  • Membership of a recognised professional body (e.g. Institute of Fire Engineers or Institute of Fire Safety Managers).
  • In-depth knowledge of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, Approved Document B, and BS 9999.
  • Experience applying best practice approaches to fire safety in operational environments.
  • Familiarity with Eurocodes, British Standards, Codes of Practice and guidance documents.
  • Ability to advise on practical and proportionate fire safety solutions.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Proven ability to influence and engage across a business and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Degree in Fire Engineering or a related subject.
  • Familiarity with Nuclear Site Licence Conditions and associated regulatory frameworks.

SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable.
