Turner & Townsend are seeking a Senior Cost Manager to join our Health, Science & Education team on a high-profile project within our London Real Estate business. The London Cost Management Health team is renowned for working on major health projects across the public and private sectors, ranging from refurbishments to large hospitals. It is part of a broader Health, Education, and Science team, providing opportunities to develop skills across sectors. Turner & Townsend is a leading consultancy in the Health, Science & Education sector, delivering industry-leading services with extensive experience and data resources for proactive, value-added client service.
Job Objectives: Senior Cost Managers handle projects of various sizes, from Β£1m to over Β£300m, leading commissions and managing end-to-end service delivery or functioning as part of a larger project team.
Main Purpose of Role: To perform as a Senior Cost Manager, overseeing service delivery or contributing to larger projects. To ensure client objectives are achieved through effective cost management from pre-contract to handover.
Key Experience Requirements:
- Experience in healthcare and/or education sectors.
- Ability to lead projects from feasibility to completion.
- Experience with Two-Stage tendering, JCT, and NEC contracts.
- Client-facing experience and stakeholder management skills.
- Knowledge of risks, challenges, and opportunities in public-sector healthcare.
- Experience producing and presenting monthly post-contract cost reports.
- Procurement process management skills.
- Negotiation skills for final accounts.
- Knowledge of contract administration, value engineering, lifecycle costing.
- Experience with CostX or similar software.
Key Accountabilities:
- Estimating, cost planning, and final cost presentation.
- Tendering, procurement, and contract management.
- Handling post-contract cost variances and change processes.
- Cost checking, valuations, and monthly reporting.
- Value engineering input and final account negotiations.
- Client and consultant interface at all project stages.
- Leading junior team members where appropriate.
Qualifications:
- Degree in construction, cost management, or quantity surveying preferred.
- MRICS qualification and relevant experience advantageous.
- Knowledge of construction industry technical matters.
- Experience in education sector projects is a plus.
