We are looking for an experienced Senior Cost Manager to join our Cost and Commercial Management team and contribute to delivery across major Corporate Occupier projects ranging into the £millions. This is a strategic role within the Commercial Management Office (CMO) where you will act as a trusted advisor, embedded within the client team. You will help shape project outcomes from the earliest stages to ensure successful delivery across major projects and programmes.
Responsibilities
- Deliver Cost and Commercial Management Services with end-to-end responsibility for large, complex and mega projects.
- Advise at a strategic level at project conception, including recommendations on approaches to achieve client objectives.
- Lead the establishment of overall project success criteria (time, cost, technical and performance).
- Benchmarking and cost intelligence with adoption and embedment of digital tools to drive commercial efficiency.
- Plan and manage quality, safety, health and environment considerations.
- Establish effective project governance, processes and systems to be used throughout the project.
- Advise on procurement of resources.
- Lead and facilitate the cross-functional project team.
- Monitor and apply performance management techniques, including KPIs to improve project performance.
- Manage change control processes as required.
- Monitor and advise on project finances.
- Manage the flow of project information between the team and the client through regular meetings and written communications.
- Act as the day-to-day client interface, ensuring client objectives are met and projects are delivered within agreed time, cost and quality parameters.
- Provide services that may range from advisory to detailed project reporting.
- Understand risk management principles and their application to projects and programmes.
- Ensure compliance with corporate governance, business systems, quality and risk management obligations.
- Contribute in a timely and informed manner to the annual budget setting process.
- Support strategic initiative outcomes as assigned by the Business Unit Director.
- Ensure essential project, financial and business data is kept up to date and secure.
Qualifications
- 8–10 years of experience as a Project/Senior Cost/Commercial Manager on large projects.
- Extensive experience in project control and commercial management.
- Extensive experience in Capital Planning, collaborating with PMO teams to develop commercial strategies.
- Working knowledge of proprietary cost management systems.
- Ability to win clients through strong business development skills.
- Ability to lead and mentor a team, enabling training and development for junior staff.
- Understanding of information management systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong Word skills, able to edit and create professional documents.
- Experience in Excel, including pivot tables, complex calculations and graphs.
- Knowledge of PowerPoint, able to craft quality presentations using standard templates.
- Professionally qualified (RICS or similar) or working towards qualification.
