Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior or Associate Cost Manager (Estimating) to join our team in London.

This is a permanent position offering the opportunity to lead cost estimation and financial planning for data centre projects.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in developing accurate cost models, managing project budgets, and providing strategic financial insights to support business decision-making within our dynamic data centre operations.

  • Lead the preparation of conceptual estimates, feasibility studies, order-of-cost estimates, elemental cost plans and detailed estimates for data centre projects.
  • Develop and maintain detailed estimating models covering building, infrastructure, CSA, MEP, power and specialist data centre systems.
  • Produce cost benchmarks and cost intelligence using internal and external market data.
  • Analyse design information and assess cost impacts associated with capacity requirements, redundancy strategies, phasing and technical specifications.
  • Evaluate cost risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support investment decisions through the provision of robust commercial advice and scenario modelling.
  • Provide cost inputs for business cases, capital expenditure approvals and project gateway reviews.
  • Lead estimating deliverables across all design stages, ensuring consistency, accuracy and quality.
  • Monitor market trends affecting labour, materials, equipment and supply chains within the data centre sector.

Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience in estimating, cost planning or quantity surveying within a consultancy, client or contractor environment.
  • Strong understanding of construction cost drivers and estimating methodologies.
  • Experience producing detailed cost plans and estimates through all design stages.
  • Demonstrable experience on data centre, mission-critical, advanced manufacturing, life sciences, energy or other highly serviced technical projects.
  • Excellent analytical and financial modelling skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication abilities.
  • MRICS, or working towards professional accreditation.
