Our award-winning Planning and Scheduling team are focused on driving innovation, enhancing our client’s integrated controls capability, improving performance, and delivering better programme outcomes. We have a growing national team of over 600 Controls & Performance professionals. We have an exciting opportunity for a Planning & Scheduling Manager to join our busy and expanding Infrastructure team who are undertaking a range of Controls & Performance duties on several high-profile Infrastructure and Defence Projects/Programmes. This role is predominantly based in the North with some regional travel required and we would welcome applicants based across Yorkshire, Northwest, Northeast and Scotland.

Additionally, this role will provide the opportunity to innovate, collaborate and learn from our experienced and award-winning Planning & Scheduling community and wider extensive Controls and Performance Network.

Your Key Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Leading members of the planning team to develop and maintain plans on complex projects or programmes.
  • Driving continuous improvement in planning (and interfacing project controls) processes to create efficiency and increasing benefits to our clients.
  • Supporting the implementation, embedding and roll-out of any identified changes to schedule management approaches.
  • Defining both internal and supply chain planning standards and ensuring compliance.
  • Co-ordination of the development and maintenance of Integrated Master Schedules including vertical and horizontal integration of supporting plans.
  • Leading population of information supporting the Integrated Master Schedules such as the Basis of Schedule (BoS).
  • Developing inputs to inform Quantitative Schedule Risk Analysis (QSRA) and incorporating schedule contingency into the planning approach.
  • Conducting analysis to understand alternative courses of action or recovery on slipped schedules.
  • Training and coaching clients and less experienced team members on planning processes and practices.
  • Challenging schedule information to ensure it is realistic, robust and stands up to scrutiny.
  • Monitoring the project managers reporting system summarising the progress status of all projects.
  • Monitoring and advise on status of project KPIs.
  • Understanding and be able to explain the EVM reported periodically.
  • Supporting T&T’s recruitment activities to grow and develop the project controls capability.
  • Undertaking line management activities including career development and performance management.
  • Contribute to the national and regional risk communities including Community of Practice.

  • Ability to interact with Senior Management / Leadership members when delivering updates on Schedule within a complex project/programme environment.
  • Ability to lead a team, responsible for defining and delivering schedule management, on complex projects/programmes along with all associated processes & reports.
  • Guide the team on appropriate use of systems and tools in relation to Planning & Scheduling.
  • Excellent communicator, (both written and verbal), to liaise with the client, contractors and designers.
  • Works to make positive change happen by embracing challenges and opportunities for our clients.
  • Effectively leads, connects and communicates with people to collaborate to deliver our best work.
  • Brings out the best in everyone by helping each other making the most of their potential through proactive collaboration and effective teamworking.

Qualifications

  • Experience in developing and maintaining project schedules on multiple capital projects is essential.
  • Experience in defining, improving or implementing planning approaches is essential.
  • In depth practical experience in Project Management and Planning techniques is essential.
  • Experience in using Primavera P6 is essential.
  • Practical application of Earned Value Management (EVM) is essential.
  • Experience in integrating multiple schedules is desirable.
  • Experience in leading small teams is desirable.
  • An understanding of QSRA (monte-carlo) techniques is desirable.
  • Having attended formal training in Primavera P6 is desirable.
  • Having attended formal training in Tilos Time location software is desirable.
  • Demonstratable experience of Cemar Contract Management tool or equivalent is desirable.
  • Experience of interfacing planning with other Project Controls disciplines (Scheduling, Cost Control, Change Control) is essential.
