Overview

Digital Transformation Lead – Hospital Construction role at Turner & Townsend. The Transformation Lead will work as part of a dynamic team to deliver new intelligent hospitals. The role will focus on implementing digital transformation initiatives and ensuring the alignment of these initiatives with national standards and strategic goals. The role supports the client in driving transformation and innovation as well as value for money in new hospital development across planning, commissioning and service delivery.

The post holder will have two primary areas of responsibility:

  • Lead and develop national standards and guidance for digital, data and technology in hospital construction.
  • Lead and develop optimal approaches to digital transformation in the context of hospital design and delivery.

The role is designed to build a combination of subject matter expertise and technical skills to develop a strong service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead digital transformation initiatives across the programme ensuring alignment with programme strategic objectives and goals.
  • Develop and implement change management strategies to facilitate smooth transitions during periods of transformation and foster a culture of innovation.
  • Conduct horizon scanning to identify emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in digitally enabled healthcare, and provide insights and recommendations to the client in conjunction with Innovation colleagues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement standards and policies that promote efficiency, patient safety, and quality of care delivery.
  • Drive and manage transformation projects, including planning, budgeting, resourcing, and monitoring progress to ensure timely completion and achievement of desired outcomes.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to project teams, empowering them to effectively execute change initiatives and drive sustainable results.
  • Foster collaboration and engagement with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation, including healthcare professionals, clinical teams, and senior leaders.
  • Foster collaboration and engagement with stakeholders across NHS Trusts.
  • Stay abreast of regulatory changes and requirements within the healthcare sector and ensure compliance with relevant guidelines and standards.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of transformation initiatives, identifying areas for improvement and making necessary adjustments to achieve desired outcomes in partnership with benefits and change subject-matter experts engaged on the programme.
  • Author high quality content to be consumed by NHS Trusts and other workstreams within the Transformation and Delivery directorates of the programme.
  • Work closely with the Senior Transformation Lead and members of the Digital SLT to ensure that the modernization of relevant NHS services is carefully managed to enable seamless parallel running alongside any existing solutions with no degradation to operational capability during adoption and transformation phases.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or equivalent level of experience in digital, data and technology, and leading digital transformation or innovation functions in an NHS acute environment.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Detailed knowledge of the provision of health services and existing standards in digital, data and technology.
  • In-depth specialist knowledge across digital transformation, product development, service design, use of emerging technologies, risk management, assurance and compliance, and staff management.
  • Experience of effectively managing large-scale projects from brief through delivery, including risk management and change control.
  • Experience managing complex projects and programmes to formulate plans and strategies across multiple services or organisations.
  • Experience managing complex digital or data programmes, with experience in a move to a new build or refurbished facility in an acute environment is highly desirable.
  • Able to travel across various sites where applicable.
