Turner Property Recruitment is working with a growing consultancy to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor with strong technical expertise across Mechanical & Electrical systems within the built environment. Based in Central London with flexible hybrid working arrangements, this is an excellent opportunity to join a highly regarded consultancy delivering specialist M&E cost management services across a diverse national project portfolio. This role offers the chance to play a key part within a close-knit and collaborative team, supporting both project delivery staff and clients across the UK business.
Alongside core commercial responsibilities, the successful candidate will also help mentor and develop junior team members, contributing to the continued growth of the M&E function.
The Role
Reporting to the Technical Director, the successful candidate will work closely with senior stakeholders across the business, providing specialist M&E commercial support and advice on a wider range of projects. Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading cost planning, estimating, procurement, and contract administration activities
- Managing valuations, variations, payment recommendations, and financial reporting
- Monitoring commercial performance and identifying risks and opportunities
- Supporting risk mitigation and resolving contractual or commercial issues
- Maintaining accurate cost data, contract records, and reporting documentation
- Building strong relationships with clients and delivery partners
- Supporting project teams through collaboration and knowledge sharing
- Managing commercial compliance and contributing to wider business improvement initiatives
- Assisting with proposals, benchmarking exercises, and sector development activities
- Mentoring junior team members, including delegation, quality assurance, and professional development support
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Proven experience delivering Quantity Surveying or commercial management services within a consultancy or client-side environment
- Strong technical knowledge of Mechanical & Electrical systems on building projects
- Demonstrable experience with specialist M&E cost management roles
- A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
- Professional accreditation with a relevant body such as the RICS
- Experience across both pre- and post-contract duties including cost planning, procurement, estimating, and contract administration
- Strong commercial awareness and problem solving capability
- Experience working across varied sectors and project environments
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strong digital and reporting capability
- Experience mentoring and managing junior team members
