Overview:
Our client, a well-established and respected multi-disciplinary construction consultancy, is expanding its team due to continued growth and increased demand following the implementation of the Building Safety Act. As part of their commitment to excellence in the telecoms, infrastructure, and manufacturing sectors, they are seeking a seasoned Principal Designer with deep expertise in Building Regulations and the Building Safety Act.
This is a pivotal opportunity for a qualified professional to lead compliance and regulatory strategies on complex, business-critical projects, including Higher-Risk Buildings (HRBs). The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring safe, functional, and compliant environments for a diverse client base.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead duties as Principal Designer under the Building Safety Act and Building Regulations across HRB and non-HRB projects.
- Manage the full lifecycle of Building Safety Regulator (BSR) applications, including Gateways 1, 2, and 3.
- Advise clients on regulatory impacts during telecoms, infrastructure, and manufacturing developments, such as site upgrades, relocations, or acquisitions.
- Act as a central liaison between clients, contractors, consultants, and regulatory bodies to ensure smooth project delivery.
- Review technical documentation, drawings, and specifications for compliance and functionality.
- Coordinate and manage construction programmes with a focus on business continuity and operational resilience.
- Support the planning and design of secure and specialist environments, including manufacturing and laboratory spaces.
Experience & Qualifications Required:
- Proven experience as a Principal Designer or in a senior design capacity with a strong background in CDM regulations, health and safety, and compliance with Building Regulations.
- Detailed, hands-on knowledge of the Building Safety Act 2022 and related legislation.
- Track record of successful applications and engagement with the Building Safety Regulator.
- Professional qualifications such as Chartered Architect or Chartered Architectural Technologist, with active membership of RIBA, ARB, CIAT, or equivalent.
- Demonstrable experience in complex commercial, industrial, or infrastructure projects.
- Full UK driving licence.
