A leading Building Safety and CDM specialist consultancy is entering an exciting period of rapid growth and is looking to appoint another experienced Building Safety Consultant to play a key role in their fast-expanding team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an established Building Safety Consultant who wants to take on a senior position within a business that is investing heavily in its people, clients, and long-term vision.
The Role
Joining the team as Building Safety Consultant, you will act as a BR Principal Designer, and a key advisor on a diverse portfolio of projects across sectors including commercial, residential, education and heritage. You will lead on CDM and BR compliance, support clients in fulfilling their duties, and work closely with design teams to embed health and safety throughout the project lifecycle. You’ll also play an important role in mentoring junior team members and helping shape Building Regs best practice as the consultancy continues to grow. There is a massive opportunity for growth within the business, opportunities to lead or build your own team and work up to Director level.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver the Principal Designer role in line with CDM Regulations 2015
- Advise clients on their statutory duties and support them in achieving compliance
- Coordinate health & safety during the pre-construction phase
- Review and contribute to design risk management and hazard elimination
- Liaise with architects, engineers, and contractors to promote safe design principles
- Act as building regulations Principal Designer advisor for their design teams
- Collate and comment on all Design Risk compliance documents for projects
- Produce, review and update a BSA compliance Risk Register
- Attend design team meetings and project workshops
- Support the development of internal CDM & BR procedures and standards
- Mentor and support junior CDM/BR professionals
What skills should you have?
- Proven experience operating as a Building Safety Consultant or BR PD
- Strong knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015, The Building Safety Act 2022 and wider construction health & safety legislation
- Experience working within a consultancy environment (preferred)
- Confident communicator with the ability to influence design teams and clients
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate (minimum)
- Membership of APS / IOSH / RIBA / CIOB / CABE (desirable)
- Strong report writing and organisational skills
