This is a genuine opportunity for ambitious professionals who feel constrained in their current role and are looking to influence, shape and develop a fire engineering service within a progressive and forward-thinking consultancy.
The fire engineering service is expanding at pace and is led by a highly experienced Principal Fire Engineer with over 35 years’ experience across consultancy, engineering and dispute resolution. The business holds best-in-class £10m PII per claim, enabling involvement in technically challenging and high-value projects.
The role offers exposure to a broad and developing service line, including:
- BSR Gateway assistance
- CFD and evacuation modelling
- FRAEWs in line with PAS 9980
- External wall and façade assessments
- Fire strategies (including retrospective)
- Fire engineering analysis and design reviews
- Construction fire safety management and site oversight
- Expert witness and forensic investigation work
- Fire risk assessments (Types 1–4)
- Compliance assessments against legislation and best practice
This is a national role, primarily covering England and Wales, with flexibility to be based from London or Manchester.
This opportunity will appeal to senior fire engineering professionals with strong technical credibility and a deep understanding of the current fire safety landscape. Candidates should be fully conversant with relevant legislation and guidance, including (but not limited to):
- Building Safety Act 2022 & Building Act 1984
- Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (as amended)
- Fire Safety Act 2021 & Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022
- BS 9991, BS 9999, BS 7974
- PAS 9980
- Approved Documents (fire-related)
- Fire safety guidance for purpose-built residential buildings
- Façade and external wall systems
You will likely hold a degree in engineering or a fire safety-related discipline and be either:
- A Chartered or Incorporated Fire Engineer (IFE), or
- A fully qualified member of a relevant professional body with equivalent experience and standing
Highly competitive salary, performance-related bonus, pension, private healthcare, gym membership, excellent CPD, training and career development, 25 days’ holiday plus Christmas–New Year closure.
This is a rare chance to join a consultancy where fire engineering is a strategic growth area, not an add-on - offering real influence, visibility, and long-term progression.
