Turner Property Recruitment is proud to be partnering with a highly regarded independent construction and property consultancy in Birmingham to appoint a commercially astute and entrepreneurial Director – Quantity Surveying.

This is a senior leadership opportunity for an ambitious Quantity Surveying professional who combines exceptional technical expertise with strong commercial acumen and a proven ability to develop client relationships, win new business and drive sustainable growth.

As a key member of the leadership team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future direction of the business, leading project delivery, developing high performing teams and expanding the consultancy's market presence across the Midlands and beyond.

The Role

The successful candidate will lead the delivery of Quantity Surveying and Cost Management services across a diverse portfolio of projects while actively contributing to the growth and success of the business.

A key element of this position is the ability to generate new opportunities, win work and develop long term client relationships. You will be expected to leverage existing networks while identifying and securing new business opportunities that support the consultancy's strategic growth objectives.

In addition to leading client delivery and business development activities, you will assume responsibility for your own Profit & Loss (P&L), managing revenue performance, profitability, resource planning and strategic growth within your business unit. This is a genuine business leadership role, requiring both commercial and operational excellence.

The successful candidate will also play a key role in the continued expansion of the team, supporting a planned growth strategy that will see the division increase by approximately 20 additional professionals over the next 2–3 years. This will include attracting talent, developing future leaders and building a high performing culture that supports long term success.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the delivery of Quantity Surveying and Cost Management commissions across multiple sectors
  • Providing strategic commercial advice to clients throughout the project lifecycle
  • Managing the financial performance of your business unit, including full P&L responsibility
  • Developing and maintaining strong client relationships at senior stakeholder level
  • Identifying, pursuing and securing new business opportunities
  • Leading bid submissions, fee proposals and presentations to prospective clients
  • Expanding existing client accounts and creating opportunities for repeat business
  • Driving revenue growth and contributing to the overall profitability of the business
  • Leading, mentoring and growing a high performing Quantity Surveying team
  • Supporting the planned expansion of the division by approximately 20 team members over the next 2–3 years
  • Driving recruitment, succession planning and talent development initiatives
  • Supporting the overall leadership, growth and strategic direction of the business
  • Driving best practice, innovation and continuous improvement across project delivery
  • Contributing to business planning, market positioning and service development initiatives

About You

We are seeking an accomplished professional with a proven track record in consultancy leadership, client development and project delivery.

You will demonstrate:

  • Significant experience in Quantity Surveying, Cost Management and Project Management environments
  • Consultancy or client side experience, with a strong understanding of the professional services market
  • A demonstrable track record of winning work, generating revenue and developing client relationships
  • Experience managing business performance, financial targets and operational deliveryStrong applied thinking with the ability to turn insight into action
  • A curious mindset and commitment to continuous improvement
  • A client focused, commercially aware and delivery driven approach
  • Excellent commercial judgement and strategic decision-making capability
  • Outstanding communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
