Turner Lovell is recruiting a SHEQ Manager on behalf of a fast-growing utilities contractor delivering high-voltage substation projects across London.

This is a contract role suited to an experienced professional who can lead site-based Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality operations, ensure compliance with industry standards, and support delivery teams in maintaining a strong safety culture across critical infrastructure works.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage SHEQ performance across multiple active project sites.

  • Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments.

  • Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations and ISO standards (45001, 14001, 9001).

  • Develop and implement site-specific SHEQ plans and toolbox talks.

  • Work closely with project teams to promote safe working practices and continuous improvement.

  • Act as a key contact for SHEQ matters with clients including National Grid, UKPN, and SSEN.

  • Lead investigations, support root cause analysis, and ensure corrective actions are implemented effectively.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a SHEQ Manager or Senior HSE Advisor on substation or HV infrastructure projects .

  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate (essential).

  • Solid knowledge of CDM Regulations and utilities sector SHEQ standards.

  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 management systems.

  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to engage and influence site teams and stakeholders.

  • Experience working with DNOs or National Grid projects is highly desirable.
