Our Client is a leading EPC Contractor with a turnover exceeding £1 billion in the electricity and renewable energy sector. Following the award of multi-year framework agreements, the company is expanding its team to deliver turnkey HV substation projects across the UK, ranging from £20 million to £150 million.
We are currently looking to recruit an experienced Senior Project Planner to join our client’s Electricity Transmission Team to support them with the design and build of multiple substation infrastructure projects (132–400kV). This is a hybrid position with occasional travel required across Southwest England and South Wales, so a full UK driving licence is required, and the company car will be provided.
Key Duties:
- Develop detailed, reliable programmes covering design, procurement, and construction phases.
- Work closely with Project and Construction Managers, as well as Site Engineers, to keep schedules updated.
- Build and refine construction programmes, factoring in resources, consents, outages, and wayleaves.
- Maintain progress trackers and provide weekly updates.
- Collaborate with Commercial and Planning teams to embed strong planning practices across projects.
- Support integration of cost systems for automated CPI/SPI reporting and effective controls.
- Promote best practices in programme management and compliance.
- Attend project handovers and client/site meetings to ensure delivery and KPI alignment.
- Provide planning input during tender stages.
- Manage risk, issue, and opportunity registers in line with change management processes.
- Benchmark project data to support value-for-money assessments.
- Stay current with planning tools and techniques to drive continuous improvement.
- Partner with commercial and finance teams to meet targets and control costs.
- Ensure all programmes comply with contractual obligations.
Requirements:
- Proficient in Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
- Knowledge of earned value management and NEC contracts.
- Familiarity with change management processes.
- Evident previous experience in Project Planning across HV substation, electricity transmission and distribution or renewable projects.
- Full UK driving licence.
