Turner Lovell is currently recruiting for a Principal, Senior Civil Design Engineer or Civil Engineers to join a rapidly expanding engineering design consultant and grid connection contractor. Our client is renowned for delivering exceptional solutions within the power, energy, and infrastructure sectors.
As the Principal or Senior Civil Design Engineer, you’ll lead the design of electricity substations across the UK from concept to completion, overseeing drawings, calculations, and specifications for a variety of civil structures and infrastructure. You’ll work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, efficient delivery to the highest technical standards.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the end-to-end civil design of electricity substations (up to 400kV) across the UK.
- Attend site visits, client meetings, and design reviews to monitor progress, resolve technical issues, and maintain alignment with project scope.
- Coordinate closely with internal design teams and external stakeholders to ensure projects meet technical, safety, and quality requirements within time and budget constraints.
- Manage design risks and develop practical, buildable engineering solutions throughout project development and delivery.
- Oversee design reviews and ensure integration with adjacent disciplines such as electrical and structural.
- Guide and support junior members within the team.
- Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- At least 3 years of industry experience, ideally within power transmission, distribution, substations, or related infrastructure in the energy and renewables sectors.
- Strong understanding of project lifecycles from feasibility through handover.
- Familiar with AutoCAD and MS Office; experience in Civil 3D, Revit, or Navisworks is advantageous.
