Turner Lovell is recruiting for an experienced Senior Authorised Person (SAP) to join our client, a leading energy infrastructure Contractor in the UK. You would be joining a well-established engineering group that delivers major infrastructure projects across the utilities, energy, power, and digital sectors. The organisation is known for its strong technical capability, safety-led culture, and long-term partnerships with leading clients across the UK. About the role:
The company is seeking an experienced Authorised Person / Senior Authorised Person with proven competence across Low Voltage (LV), Medium Voltage (MV) and High Voltage (HV) electrical systems, including operational ranges such as 11kV, 33kV, 66kV and 132kV. You will play a key role in ensuring safe electrical operations, overseeing switching programmes, and supporting multiple live projects with technical assurance. This role is both safety-critical and central to successful project execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and authorise LV / MV / HV switching operations across substations, RMUs, transformers, switchgear, and private network assets (11kVβ132kV).
- Coordinate and validate isolation procedures, energisation, and system restoration.
- Ensure full compliance with electrical safety rules, legislation, and operational control systems.
- Diagnose and support fault investigation across LV/MV/HV networks, providing technical guidance on corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate switching schedules, permits, risk assessments, and operational documentation.
- Support field teams, contractors, and project managers in delivering works safely and efficiently.
Requirements:
- Recognised AP/SAP authorisations for LV, MV, and HV systems, ideally covering 11kV, 33kV, 66kV and 132kV networks.
- Solid understanding of electrical distribution networks, protection schemes, switching protocols and safe-system-of-work requirements.
- Hands-on experience working on substations, distribution networks, transformers and network protection equipment.
- Relevant qualification in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Additional certifications (HV Authorisation Rules, LV/HV Switching, Safety Rules, etc.) are highly desirable.
- Confident leadership, good communication skills, and the ability to make sound decisions in safety-critical scenarios.
