Salary Package: Up to £110,000

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of ~20 civil and structural design engineers and technicians.
  • Oversee delivery of civil and structural designs for DNO / ICP connections, battery storage sites, HV substations and transmission cable routes.
  • Act as the civil design authority (CDAE), ensuring safe, compliant and buildable solutions.
  • Set and maintain design standards, processes and governance across all civil design activities.
  • Work closely with project, electrical and construction teams to support tenders and live projects.
  • Ensure designs comply with CDM and relevant UK and international standards.
  • Support the growth of civil design offering into new markets, including USA and Australia.
  • Contribute to resource planning, budgeting and performance management for the civil design team.

Ideal Candidate

  • Extensive experience in civil and structural design within the power, electricity or renewable energy sectors.
  • Background as a Civil Design Manager, Head of Civil Design, or similar senior design leadership role.
  • Proven track record delivering designs for grid connections, substations, cable routes or battery storage projects.
  • Strong understanding of DNO / ICP requirements and transmission / distribution infrastructure.
  • Experience acting as a CDAE or similar accountable design authority.
  • In-depth knowledge of CDM regulations and relevant industry standards.
  • Ideally chartered (ICE or IStructE) or working towards chartership.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills with a focus on team development and high performance.
