On behalf of a fast-growing international EP contractor that has a strong pipeline of renewable energy, electricity, and offshore wind projects across the UK and Europe, Turner Lovell is looking to recruit an experienced Consulting Engineer to provide technical governance and advice to ensure high-quality, reliable power transformers.
Responsibilities:
- Report to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and collaborate with a team of experienced engineers.
- Coach and mentor engineers through on-the-job and classroom training.
- Represent the company in front of clients, suppliers, and professional bodies.
- Develop and publish innovative ideas in scientific papers and patents.
- Lead the design approval process and ensure rigorous oversight of transformer deliveries.
- Engage in technical discussions with suppliers to optimize transformer designs.
- Maintain a deep understanding of international and local standards for power transformers.
- Develop and deploy engineering processes and best practices.
- Enforce discipline and adherence to company policies and quality procedures.
- Address non-conformances promptly.
- Develop solutions, tools, and processes for engineering activities.
- Identify and evaluate EHS risks.
- Promote safe work practices and provide constructive feedback.
Requirements:
- Degree in engineering or equivalent knowledge with extensive experience in Power Transformer Design, especially in HVDC Converter and Interface transformers.
- Expertise in Power Transformer Design, Testing and Validation, Purchase Specification, Audible Noise Assessment, Transformer Shipping and Movement, Civil Interfaces, Fire Protection, Electrical Modelling, Insulation Coordination, and Ancillary Component Specification.
- Strong oral and written communication skills in English.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Technical leadership and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work as a team player and facilitate group interactions.
- Proactively identify and manage risks, issues, and opportunities.
- Experience in acquisition and supply management.
- Proactively record and disseminate return of experience.
