Turner Lovell is recruiting a Senior Civil Design Engineer to lead civil designs for medium and high voltage transmission infrastructure across Scotland. The role covers substation compounds, grid connections, OHL interfaces and underground cable routes.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver civil design for substations (11‑132 kV), grid connections, OHL interfaces and underground cable routes.
- Develop drawings, calculations and specifications for foundations, transformer bunds, retaining structures, cable trenches, ducts, joint bays, culverts, access roads, drainage and earthworks.
- Work closely with electrical, structural and other internal teams to integrate designs.
- Support design and build delivery by liaising with construction teams, responding to RFIs and closing out design queries.
- Manage design risks and ensure compliance with safety, quality and technical standards.
- Attend the Glasgow office and project sites as needed for design reviews and coordination.
- Provide guidance and technical support to junior engineers.
Qualifications
- Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
- Minimum 2 + years experience in power, utilities, substations, grid connections or similar infrastructure.
- Experience in civil design for substation compounds, cable routes, foundations, drainage and access infrastructure.
- Good understanding of project lifecycles and the interface between design and construction.
- Proficient with AutoCAD and MS Office; Civil 3D, Revit, Navisworks experience is beneficial.
- Strong communication and team‑working skills.
