Turner Lovell is recruiting an experienced Site Manager to take full responsibility for the safe, compliant, and commercially controlled delivery of construction activities on high-voltage power and transmission projects. The Site Manager will lead site operations, coordinate multiple contractors and stakeholders, and ensure all works are delivered in line with programme, quality, budget, and EHS requirements. This role requires strong leadership, commercial awareness, and proven experience working within regulated utility environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take full accountability for the day-to-day management of site activities across construction projects.
  • Ensure all works are delivered in accordance with defined guidelines, processes, procedures, and project standards.
  • Manage and coordinate subcontractors and suppliers before and during execution of works.
  • Oversee site administration, reporting, and controls to ensure delivery on time, to specification, and within budget.
  • Maintain economic responsibility for site operations, including forecasting and controlling labour, materials, and subcontract costs.
  • Represent the site at project meetings and decision-making forums with internal management, clients, and project teams.
  • Establish and maintain efficient systems for site control, reporting, and performance monitoring.
  • Identify, assess, and manage site-based risks and opportunities, including commercial, organisational, contractual, and programme risks.
  • Ensure full compliance with all relevant standards, legislation, quality requirements, and EHS guidelines.
  • Lead, manage, and motivate site-based teams and functional disciplines to achieve project objectives.

Qualifications & Authorisations (Essential)

  • SSE CAT 3 Authorisation
  • SMSTS
  • CSCS (Manager level)
  • IOSH Managing Safely (or equivalent)
  • First Aid

Experience & Skills

  • Proven experience managing construction sites within the power, transmission, or utilities sector.
  • Strong understanding of HV substation environments and regulated client standards (e.g. SSE).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple contractors and interfaces simultaneously.
  • Strong commercial awareness with experience controlling site costs and budgets.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
