Turner Lovell is supporting to recruit a Project Development Lead – Permitting & Environment to join an ambitious offshore wind and grid developer. Our client, backed by one of Europe’s leading transmission system operators, aims to secure an industry-leading role in the offshore grid sector. Current plans are to develop, build, own and operate offshore infrastructure across Europe and international markets, with significant investment planned in offshore wind and related grid infrastructure.
As the Consent and Permit Lead , you will take a leading role in developing and delivering the land, consenting, permitting and environmental strategy for major offshore grid projects. You will be responsible for managing complex approval processes across both offshore and onshore scopes, working closely with project leadership, engineering, procurement, legal, land agents, environmental consultants and key external stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Lead permitting, consenting, land and environmental workstreams for major offshore infrastructure projects.
- Define and deliver the approvals strategy across onshore and offshore scopes.
- Manage environmental consultants, land agents and specialist technical advisors.
- Support route selection, site selection, survey planning and environmental studies.
- Oversee land access, wayleaves, easements, third-party agreements and stakeholder negotiations.
- Manage planning applications, permits, licences and environmental documentation.
- Lead stakeholder engagement with authorities, regulators, landowners and local communities.
- Work closely with engineering, procurement and project teams to reduce consenting risk and keep projects moving forward.
- Provide strategic input across the wider project portfolio and help establish best practice.
Ideal Candidate
- Degree or master’s qualification in Planning, Environmental, Marine, Engineering or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in permitting, consenting, environmental planning or land activities for offshore energy, subsea cable, grid infrastructure or major linear infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of planning applications, environmental studies, land access, wayleaves, easements and stakeholder engagement.
- Proven ability to manage consultants, land agents, technical advisors and external stakeholders.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to drive complex approvals workstreams forward.
- Confident communicator with strong negotiation and relationship-building skills and Fluent English
