An exciting opportunity for a Senior Civil Design Engineer to lead the design of electricity substations across the UK from concept to completion, overseeing drawings, calculations, and specifications for a variety of civil structures and infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end civil design of electricity substations (up to 400kV) across the UK.
- Attend site visits, client meetings, and design reviews to monitor progress, resolve technical issues, and maintain alignment with project scope.
- Coordinate closely with internal design teams and external stakeholders to ensure projects meet technical, safety, and quality requirements within time and budget constraints.
- Manage design risks and develop practical, buildable engineering solutions throughout project development and delivery.
- Oversee design reviews and ensure integration with adjacent disciplines such as electrical and structural.
- Guide and support junior members within the team.
Qualifications
- Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- At least 3 years of industry experience, ideally within power transmission, distribution, substations, or related infrastructure in the energy and renewables sectors.
- Strong understanding of project lifecycles from feasibility through handover.
- Familiar with AutoCAD and MS Office; experience in Civil 3D, Revit, or Navisworks is advantageous.
