On behalf of a fast-growing international EPC contractor, with a strong pipeline of renewable energy, electricity, and offshore wind projects across the UK and Europe, Turner Lovell are recruiting for a Senior Safety Engineer to join their well-established engineering team. This role is crucial in ensuring safety in delivering high-voltage electricity transmission projects across Europe, whilst delivering multiple major projects across Europe.

As a Senior Safety Engineer, you will ensure all design work prioritises safety, reducing safety, health, and environmental concerns during the design phase. We are looking for a proactive and dynamic individual with a strong interest in safety and safe construction practices, who can effectively interface with designers and challenge designs to ensure optimal safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage the 'Hazard in Design' process across multiple projects.
  • Facilitate and chair 'Hazid' reviews.
  • Ensure hazards are identified and mitigated.
  • Follow up on required actions to ensure they are correctly implemented.
  • Collaborate with verification engineers to ensure safety is considered at all design stages.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and customer requirements.
  • Capture and capitalize on learning from executed projects to avoid reoccurrence.
  • Ensure all design work prioritises safety and considers construction, operation, maintenance, and deconstruction.
  • Reduce safety, health, and environmental concerns before construction begins.
  • Train and educate design team members on safety implications.
  • Support Engineering teams at tendering and execution stages.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • HAZOP, HAZID, or NEBOSH qualification.
  • Experience with infrastructure design.
  • Background in electrical, mechanical, civil, site, or chemical engineering.
