Job Description
Senior Design Engineer – Cables
Location: Suffolk or London (hybrid with site visits, remote working possible)
Salary: £50,000 – £75,000 (+ benefits)

Turner Lovell are recruiting for a leading UK engineering services provider that delivers innovative design and technical solutions to the power sector. With a strong pipeline of major infrastructure projects across the UK, they are looking for an experienced Senior Design Engineer – Cabling to join their expanding team.
In this role, you will take the lead on the design, drawings, and calculations for cabling projects across ICPs, data centres, and renewable energy developments up to 132kV. You'll collaborate closely with a multi-disciplinary design team, carry out site surveys, and provide technical leadership throughout the full project lifecycle, from concept to detailed design.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead complex cabling projects, ensuring high-quality designs are delivered within agreed timescales and budgets.
- Develop and review engineering drawings, calculations, and design documentation using industry software (e.g., AutoCAD, CYMCAP)
- Plan and design cable routes, resolving advanced engineering challenges and technical constraints.
- Review and approve earthing studies, reports, and design outputs, providing constructive technical feedback.
- Support site teams by offering engineering input and solutions to technical queries
- Lead or participate in design reviews and project meetings with internal stakeholders and clients.
Ideal Background & Skills
- HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering essential; a degree or equivalent higher qualification preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in delivering end-to-end cabling design projects.
- Competent in cable routing and design, with practical knowledge of relevant software tools.
- Comfortable working independently on technically challenging projects with minimal supervision.
- Strong commercial understanding and ability to maintain effective client relationships.
