Location: London & South East (site-based, regional travel)

Rates: £750 - £900 per day, depending on experience and authorisations. Salary: 80K+ depending on experience and authorisations

Start Date: ASAP / (6 month rolling contract)

Turner Lovell are supporting a major client in the power distribution sector as they bring previously subcontracted works back in-house and build a new, dedicated SAP and HV Engineering team across London and the South East. This is a rare opportunity to join at the very beginning of a major organisational expansion with a wide remit, long-term stability, and the ability to shape how the team operates.

We are seeking experienced Senior SAPs and HV Engineers with SSE or other DNO authorisations (33kV and above), ideally with experience up to 132kV - 400kV. For the right individuals, this offers a high-impact position with strong progression in a rapidly growing part of the business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver SAP duties on HV projects across 33kV-132kV networks within the London / SE region
  • Provide switching, safety documentation, and network control activities under SSE authorisations
  • Oversee installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance activities across substations and overhead/underground assets
  • Ensure compliance with all DNO/IDNO standards, safety rules, and operational procedures
  • Take responsibility for day-to-day coordination, outage planning, permits, and energisation activities
  • Liaise with client representatives, project managers, and commissioning specialists to ensure safe and efficient delivery
  • Provide subject-matter expertise for 33kV and above switching, fault response, and operational controls
Requirements
  • Current or recent SSE/DNO authorisations (33kV+ essential, 132kV highly desirable)
  • Proven experience as an SAP working on DNO/IDNO HV networks (33kV-132kV)
  • Strong technical background in HV operations, switching, safety documentation, and substation environments
  • Electrical Engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent)
