We are recruiting on behalf of a major UK electricity transmission contractor delivering critical overhead line (OHL) infrastructure as part of a long-term framework with a leading Transmission Network Operator. This role will suit an experienced Site Manager with a proven track record in managing high-voltage transmission line construction, refurbishment, or upgrade projects.
The successful candidate will take full responsibility for day-to-day site operations, leading the delivery phase with a strong emphasis on safety, coordination, and programme achievement.
Responsibilities:
- Manage all site activities for live OHL projects, including tower erection, conductor stringing, foundation works, access track installation, and associated civil works
- Supervise and coordinate subcontractors, in-house teams, plant operations, and logistics
- Conduct site inductions, Toolbox Talks, and daily briefings
- Maintain and update Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) in line with client and statutory requirements
- Monitor progress against the construction programme and provide updates to the Project Manager
- Promote and enforce a strong health and safety culture on site
- Manage site records, permits, labour tracking, and quality control documentation
- Ensure effective coordination between civil, mechanical, and electrical installation teams
- Support the testing, inspection, and project handover process
Requirements:
- SMSTS, CSCS, First Aid, Manual Handling (essential)
- Previous authorisations or experience working under UK Transmission Safety Rules desirable
- Proven experience managing UK transmission OHL projects at 132kV and above
- Excellent knowledge of HSE regulations and enforcement procedures on site
- Strong communication skills for stakeholder and subcontractor management
- Proven ability to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to quality standards
