Turner Lovell is recruiting on behalf of a leading international engineering and construction contractor delivering major UK transmission infrastructure projects. We are seeking an experienced Electrical Site Manager to lead the electrical installation works on a large-scale renewable energy project. This is a long-term contract opportunity supporting the delivery of critical infrastructure, managing the safe and efficient installation of high-voltage plant and equipment through to commissioning readiness.
The successful candidate will have a strong background delivering HV transmission projects, with experience managing large electrical installation teams and subcontractors on complex live or brownfield substation environments.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead the day-to-day management of all electrical installation activities on a major substation project.
- Manage site supervisors, electrical installers and specialist subcontractors, overseeing teams of up to 65 personnel.
- Ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with project specifications, programme and quality requirements.
- Supervise the installation of EHV primary plant including transformers, circuit breakers, disconnectors, instrument transformers, busbar systems, GIS/AIS equipment and associated HV cable systems.
- Coordinate daily activities with construction, engineering, commissioning and HSE teams.
- Ensure compliance with all project procedures, RAMS, permits, quality documentation and client standards.
- Monitor installation progress, identify programme risks and implement recovery plans where required.
- Maintain strong relationships with the client, project management team and key stakeholders throughout project delivery.
- Support commissioning readiness through completion of inspection records, quality documentation and handover packages.
- Promote a positive safety culture, ensuring full compliance with UK health, safety and environmental legislation.
- Proven experience as an Electrical Site Manager delivering 400kV or 275kV transmission substation projects.
- Strong understanding of HV electrical installation methodologies and transmission standards.
- Experience managing large site teams, supervisors and specialist subcontractors on complex infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of primary plant installation including transformers, GIS/AIS switchgear, circuit breakers, disconnectors, CTs, VTs and HV cable systems.
- Excellent understanding of construction sequencing, quality assurance and commissioning interfaces.
- SMSTS (or equivalent) essential.
- CSCS card.
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate and/or CCNSG Safety Passport desirable.
- Electrical engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent) preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
