Role: Managing Quantity Surveyor

Location: Hybrid, 3 days in North Wales, travelling to various sites.

Salary: £85,000 + additional benefits

Turner Lovell are recruiting a Managing Quantity Surveyor to join an £1 billion + turnover EPC Contractor in the electricity and renewable energy sector. Following the award of multi-year framework agreements, the company is expanding its team to deliver turnkey HV substation projects across the UK, ranging from £20 million to £150 million. This is a hybrid role, and we are looking for a candidate who can access the North Wales project site at least 3 times a week.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead all commercial activities across multiple OHL projects (delivering projects under National Grid framework)
  • Oversee subcontract packages, including valuations and agreement of final accounts
  • Produce claims, management reports, and cost forecasts
  • Monitor project risks closely and ensure all commercial documentation is robust and accurate
  • Identify variations, delays, and cost recovery opportunities early
  • Collaborate with engineering, planning, and finance teams to maintain programme and budget control
  • Ensure full compliance with health, safety, quality, and environmental requirements

Requirements:

  • Experience or understanding of the Electricity Transmission sector (OHL / Substations) is advantageous, though strong major infrastructure experience on multi-million-pound projects will also be considered
  • Proven experience managing large subcontractor work packages and liaising directly with the Client
  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, or equivalent 'graduate-level' experience
  • Solid knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 contracts, especially Options A, B and E.
  • Strong communication and negotiation capabilities
  • Competent user of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • A recognised qualification in Quantity Surveying
  • Valid full UK driving licence
