Are you experienced in shaping compliant engineering solutions during tender and bid phases? Do you enjoy collaborating with clients, estimating and delivery teams on complex energy infrastructure projects? Turner Lovell is recruiting a Technical Manager for a leading energy infrastructure contractor operating across the UK renewable and transmission markets.

This role sits within a growing renewable connections team responsible for the design and delivery of major grid connection projects spanning 33kV to 400kV. Projects are delivered both as standalone schemes and under long-term framework agreements within the non-regulated sector. The role focuses on tendering and bid phases. You will support tender strategy, technical compliance and the development of competitive engineering solutions, while ensuring designs are appropriately managed through the early stages of a project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead technical input within the bid and tendering team for renewable and transmission tenders, ensuring full compliance with client and industry requirements.
  • Work closely with estimating teams to validate scope, assumptions, risk and cost models.
  • Manage and coordinate technical input across electrical works and associated civil engineering interfaces.
  • Engage with supply chain partners and subcontractors to obtain competitive and compliant technical proposals.
  • Prepare and review technical documentation and support internal governance and approval processes.
  • Present technical aspects of bids during client meetings and senior stakeholder reviews.
  • Support technical handover into delivery and provide early-stage support to project and construction teams.
Ideal Candidate
  • Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Strong experience within the renewable energy and non-regulated power sectors.
  • Proven technical leadership on high-voltage electrical infrastructure projects.
  • Solid knowledge of HV systems from 33kV to 400kV, including substations and grid connections.
  • Hands-on exposure to Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) projects.
  • Good working knowledge of National Grid and DNO standards.
  • Confident communicator, able to engage with clients and senior stakeholders.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a business with a strong pipeline of renewable and grid connection work, offering long-term career progression as the UK energy sector accelerates towards Net Zero.
