Turner Lovell are recruiting on behalf of a growing utility infrastructure contractor delivering HV connection projects across the UK. Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured works, our client is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial delivery of 33kV & 132kV substation and electrical infrastructure projects. This role would suit a commercially focused Quantity Surveyor with experience delivering transmission, distribution, substation, or major utility infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing project finances, contractual obligations, and commercial performance from project award through to final account.
Working closely with project managers, site teams, subcontractors, and clients, you will help ensure projects are delivered safely, profitably, and in accordance with contractual requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Commercial management of 132kV substation construction, extension, and refurbishment projects
- Preparation and management of applications for payment, valuations, and final accounts
- Subcontractor procurement, negotiation, and commercial administration
- Cost forecasting, budgeting, and financial reporting across live projects
- Management of variations, compensation events, and change control processes
- Administration and management of NEC contracts and associated documentation
- Monitoring project costs, cash flow, and commercial performance
- Supporting operational teams with contractual and commercial guidance
- Liaising with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and key project stakeholders
- Assisting with tender submissions, estimates, and commercial reviews where required
- Producing accurate commercial reports for senior management
- Ensuring compliance with company commercial procedures and governance requirements
- Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the power, utilities, energy, or infrastructure sectors
- Experience working on high-voltage substation projects, transmission infrastructure, switchgear installations, transformer projects, or electrical balance-of-plant works
- Strong understanding and practical experience administering NEC contracts
- Experience managing subcontractor packages and project financial reporting
- Strong negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Commercially astute with excellent attention to detail
- Degree-qualified (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and commercial management systems
- Full UK driving licence preferred
