Are you an experienced finance professional looking for a stable, long-term opportunity with a successful, family-run business? We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established and highly respected machinery retailer with a supportive team culture and a genuine commitment to looking after its people. This is a business where employees stay for years. As the company continues to grow, there is an opportunity for an experienced Finance Manager to take ownership of the finance function and play a key role in the continued success of the business.

You’ll oversee the day-to-day running of the finance function while working closely with senior management and colleagues across the wider business. This is a varied, hands-on role offering genuine responsibility and autonomy, with the opportunity to develop and improve financial processes as the business continues to grow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of the day-to-day finance function across the business
  • Oversee purchase ledger, sales ledger and general finance activities
  • Manage and monitor cashflow, outstanding debt and customer accounts
  • Oversee bank, supplier and control account reconciliations
  • Manage month-end processes and prepare management accounts and financial reports
  • Provide accurate financial information and reporting to senior management
  • Monitor business performance, costs and margins and provide financial insight where required
  • Support budgeting, forecasting and cashflow planning
  • Act as the key point of contact for external accountants, auditors and professional advisers
  • Prepare information for year-end accounts and other financial reporting requirements
  • Investigate and resolve financial discrepancies and queries
  • Ensure appropriate financial controls and procedures are maintained
  • Identify opportunities to improve finance processes, systems and reporting

About You

We’re looking for an experienced and commercially minded finance professional who is comfortable taking ownership and working across a broad range of financial responsibilities. You’ll be organised, proactive and confident working independently, while also being a strong team player who can build positive relationships with colleagues, suppliers, customers and external advisers.

We’re looking for:

  • Previous experience in a Finance Manager, Management Accountant or similar senior finance role
  • Strong understanding of financial processes, controls and reporting
  • Experience overseeing purchase ledger, sales ledger and credit control
  • Experience with month-end processes and management accounts
  • Experience working with external accountants or professional advisers
  • Experience using finance or ERP systems (such as Sage, Exchequer, SAP, Dynamics, Kerridge or similar)
  • Experience using IBCOS Gold would be advantageous, although this is by no means essential
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines
  • Strong communication skills and a positive, team-focused attitude

What’s on Offer?

  • Salary of £40,000-£45,000, depending on experience
  • A secure, long-term position within a successful, growing business
  • Genuine ownership and autonomy over the finance function
  • The opportunity to work closely with senior management
  • Friendly, supportive and welcoming working environment
  • Performance-related Christmas bonus (awarded at the company's discretion)

If you feel like you could be the person we’re looking for, apply today – we’d love to hear from you.
