Turnbull & Co is a family-owned builders’ merchant with long-standing roots across Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire. We’re looking for a reliable Yard Operative to join our Sleaford trading centre and play a key role in serving our trade customers and supporting daily branch operations. This is a hands-on, practical role based at our yard, focused on getting things right for customers and working closely with the branch team.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Loading and unloading delivery vehicles safely and accurately
  • Checking loads against customer orders
  • Preparing stock for delivery and maintaining yard organisation
  • Receiving and putting away palletised deliveries
  • Supporting trade customers in the yard with a helpful, approachable manner
  • Working as part of the wider branch team to keep operations running smoothly

What we’re looking for:

  • You don’t need previous builders’ merchant experience — we’re happy to train the right person.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to work
  • Being reliable, practical, and safety-conscious
  • Able to work well as part of a team
  • Comfortable dealing with customers in a polite, professional way
  • Forklift experience is desirable, but not essential (training available)
