Turnbull & Co is a family-owned builders’ merchant with long-standing roots across Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire. We’re looking for a reliable Driver/Yard Operative to join our Newark branch and play a key role in serving our trade customers and supporting daily branch operations. This is a hands-on, practical role supporting our Newark team and focused on getting things right for customers and working closely with our local branches.
What you’ll be doing:
- Loading and unloading our fleet of delivery vehicles ensuring that all products are safely loaded, secured and are correct against the customers’ orders.
- Making local deliveries of building materials.
- Ensuring delivery is safe to make and respecting customer’s property.
- Checking goods off with customers and obtaining signatures for delivery.
- Handling customer queries on delivery effectively.
What we’re looking for:
- You don’t need previous builders’ merchant experience — we’re happy to train the right person.
- A positive attitude and willingness to work.
- Being reliable, practical, and safety-conscious.
- Able to work well as part of a team.
- Comfortable dealing with customers in a polite, professional way.
- Full driving licence for 7.5t and driver CPC.
- A Class 2 Licence is desirable but not essential – we are willing to offer HGV training for the right person.
- Forklift experience is desirable but not essential (training available).
- Stable role based at one location.
