Overview
The Assistant Night Operations Manager is responsible for the overall operation, safety, and guest experience of the hotel/resort during the night shift. Acting as Manager on Duty in the absence of the General Manager, the role ensures seamless service delivery, operational efficiency, and security in line with brand and Luxury Five-Star standards.
Operational Leadership
- Act as Manager on Duty overnight, taking full responsibility for hotel operations.
- Assist the Night Operations Manager in managing all night departments including Front Desk, Security, Housekeeping, Night Porters and Drivers.
- Coordinate and supervise Front of House operations to ensure efficient check-in/out and guest service.
- Assign and monitor nightly tasks across operational and security teams.
- Ensure all shift Checklists are completed appropriately and in a timely manner.
Guest Experience
- Deliver personalized, high-level service to VIPs and late-night arrivals.
- Monitor guest satisfaction and service quality overnight.
- Maintain a visible presence in the lobby and proactively engage with guests, including VIPs and regular guests.
Security & Safety
- Ensure the safety and security of guests, staff, and property overnight.
- Monitor CCTV, alarm systems, and conduct regular security patrols.
- Respond to incidents including accidents, disturbances, or suspicious activity, escalating where required.
- Attend/complete required trainings as required by the role and ensure completion by Night team members.
Financial & Administrative Duties
- May be required to perform night audit and ensure accurate recording of arrivals, departures, and billing.
- May be required to prepare daily business documentation and operational reports.
- Manage personal float and oversee overnight financial procedures.
Team Leadership & Development
- Supervise and support overnight team members throughout the shift.
- Provide coaching, guidance, and performance feedback.
- Assist with training and onboarding of new night staff.
Candidate Requirements:
- Must be eligible to live and work in the UK.
- Previous experience of supervising or leading a team is essential.
- Flexibility to work through the night.
- Previous experience of the hospitality industry is essential.
- Passion for delivering a 5 star level of service.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Must be smart and well presented.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and supervise staff.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- In-depth knowledge of security operations, emergency response, and risk management procedures.
- Ability to stay calm under pressure and handle emergency situations effectively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication for reporting and incident documentation.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and act with integrity.
- Will be required to undertake SIA training and have Door Supervisor badge.
- A self-starter with a passion for operational efficiency who is not afraid to share new practice and implement through to completion.
