Turley are seeking to recruit an ambitious Associate Director to expand our modelling service and energy strategy work, as part of our growing Sustainability and ESG team. The opportunity is for someone to take a leading technical and business development role within the team, focussing on the performance of new buildings, retrofits, and portfolios.
We are looking for someone experienced in building modelling software and other modelling services more generally, decarbonisation pathways, national legislation, and planning policy. We would also expect strong project management, business development, and client relationship management skills.
The key activities of this role are:
- Lead projects, developing strategies supported by modelling to meet the needs of clients, national legislation, and local planning policy.
- Analysis of existing asset portfolios to understand their needs to make a transition to net zero and other standards.
- Assist with the upskill and development of junior members of the team.
- Undertake business development to grow the service, identifying opportunities and adapting to the changing legislative landscape.
- Produce high quality fee proposals.
- Manage and deliver projects to budgets and deadlines.
- Support the production of evidence for BREEAM assessments.
Our preferred locations are Cardiff, London, Manchester and Birmingham, but can be flexible for the right candidate.
Necessary Skills and Experience
- Development of energy strategies and decarbonisation roadmaps, clearly communicated through reports and meetings with clients.
- Overheating and thermal comfort.
- Daylight and shadowing modelling, in the context of local policy and Environmental Impact Assessment.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Excel and ability to develop complex spreadsheets.
- Understanding of local planning policy depending on location e.g. Places for Everyone, London Plan.
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Techno-economic analysis for financial or environmental return.
- Corporate sustainability / net zero drivers – such as GRESB, SBTi, CRREM, MEES.
- VBA.
- EPC accreditation.
- Understanding of smart and renewable energy systems.
