Opportunity: We have an opportunity for a solicitor with a minimum of two to three years post qualified experience in renewables to join one of our Land & Property teams on a full-time basis. Dual qualified candidates will be considered, but Scottish qualification is essential. The role will principally be based in our Edinburgh office, although we support a hybrid working approach.
Turcan Connell has been at the forefront of the renewables sector since the late 1990s. Our team advises on a full range of projects, including wind (from large scale windfarms to single turbines), solar, battery storage, and hydro (including pumped storage). We advise landowners in relation to renewables projects and also act for some developers.
In providing advice to clients, you will work with colleagues in land and property, tax and succession, business law, charity law, family law, employment law, and litigation to ensure fully integrated holistic advice is given.
As a trusted adviser, you will need to have an interest in people and their affairs, acting with discretion and empathy.
Skills/Qualifications: The successful candidate will have at least two to three years post qualified experience in the Scottish property aspects of renewables projects. You will be a strong team player with sound practical property law experience and enthusiasm to develop your technical skills and legal career in a dynamic environment. Self-sufficiency, commercial awareness, and the ability to handle a variety of challenging work with minimum supervision are essential. Strong organisation, confident communication skills, attention to detail, and interpersonal skills are required, along with the ability to work on your own initiative. A high level of discretion and confidentiality is necessary due to exposure to sensitive information. You will have curiosity and enthusiasm to develop your technical skills and those of your colleagues, progressing your career in a supportive environment with technical excellence and high-quality loyal clients.
