We are recruiting an Estimator to join our team based in West Yorkshire on a 12-month Fixed Term Contract.
As an Estimator at Tunstall Healthcare, you will be responsible for the preparation of quotations/tenders using an established estimating system, ensuring prompt turnaround of all enquiries and that customers’ tender deadlines are met. This will include reading and understanding customer specifications, interpreting the requirements and converting them into a system configuration, which will provide the most cost-effective solution.
The Ideal Candidate
You should have experience of dealing with up to 10 quotations per week with a value of anything up to £500k.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Prepare quotations to support the UK Commercial teams.
- Respond to tenders either directly or via procurement portals; working with the Major Bids team where required.
- Liaise with other internal departments and suppliers to enable the build-up of a quotation.
- Obtain site survey information from surveyors when required.
- Carry out regular progress chasing to ensure timely return of information.
- Liaise with the Installations Department regarding system designs, marking-up layout drawings (if necessary) and builders work requirements.
- Obtain assistance, when necessary, from Product Marketing Managers and technical experts.
- Read and understand detailed customer specifications including contract terms and conditions.
- Ensure correct and accurate interpretation of customer specifications detailing any variations to enable full evaluation of the available options prior to response to enquiry.
- Ensure timely submission of quotations which can be converted into an order.
- Deal with all telephone enquiries and written correspondence relating to estimates.
- Ensure that overdue quotations are kept to a minimum, keeping both customers and Commercial Department informed of any difficulties.
Key skills and experience
- Previous estimating experience.
- Ability to read and interpret customer specifications and build up a system design.
- Experience in providing estimates of installed electrical/electronic systems such as Warden Call, Access Control, Intruder or Fire Detection (though not essential).
- Computer literate – good standard of understanding of Adobe and MS Office packages including Excel, Outlook and Internet.
- Use of management information systems such as ERP/IFS/SAP.
- Knowledge of tendering processes.
- GCSE/O-Level passes (grade C or above) in Maths and English.
