The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.

We are currently recruiting for a Group Financial Accountant, who will be responsible for consolidating the financial reporting of the company’s multiple international subsidiaries and understanding and articulating the drivers of the company’s trading performance and forecasts.

This role is based at our Whitley, Yorkshire office, working on a hybrid basis. This is a Fixed Term contract position until September 2026.

What will you be doing in this role?

As our Group Financial Accountant, you will form impactful relationships with the senior management team to drive exceptional decision making. You will play a key part in maximising the company’s use of financial data to understand and drive performance. Owning the initial preparation of the monthly management accounts pack and reviewing and constructively challenging regional performance vs forecast to provide clarity over drivers of group performance to the senior management team and board is vital to the success of this role.

The Ideal candidate:

To be successful in this role you will have proven experience in building and maintaining strong relationships, both internally and externally, and with the ability to constructively challenge key stakeholders. You will be fully qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA), highly proficient in the use of Excel and have the ability to dissect multiple financial data sets to provide focused understanding of performance.

The successful candidate will be customer focused, proactive, resilient and confident, with a high attention to detail, able to solve problems effectively and ensure completion of tasks to time and required quality.

Some of your key tasks will be…

  • Continuation of development of group reporting; introducing new reporting to drive greater insight; improving existing systems and processes,
  • Working with the Group Financial Controller with the preparation of the monthly consolidated accounts,
  • Ownership of the initial preparation of the monthly management accounts pack: updating reports with the latest results and variances; forming supporting commentary; meeting corporate deadlines,
  • Review and challenge regional performance vs forecast to provide clarity over drivers of Group performance to the senior management team and Board,
  • Understanding the group’s financial reporting consolidation system (Tagetik): supporting regional financial teams to use the system effectively; ensuring the monthly processes have been completed; ensuring control checks have been passed by regions,
  • Support monthly calls with international finance teams,
  • Support the Interim Manager – Group FP&A and drive the forecasting cycles in partnership with regional finance leads; drive improvements in the company’s forecasting processes and outputs,
  • Assist in responding to queries from internal and external customers (Senior Management, Board, banking syndicate, etc.) and the production of ad-hoc reports in response to such queries,
  • Provide modelling, financial planning & analysis and ad hoc financial support as required outside the day-to-day operations of the business,
  • Assist in the preparation of the year end consolidation package and consolidated reporting process,
  • Work with the Group Financial Controller to draft of the year end statutory accounts for both the consolidated and stand-alone Group entities,
  • Work with the Group Financial Controller to ensure smooth running of the year end audit process.

Key skills and experience:

  • An accounting qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or overseas equivalent),
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, complex formula),
  • Great relationship building skills; able to develop close and constructive relationships at all levels,
  • Excellent communication skills; written & oral and great attention to detail,
  • Intellectual curiosity focused on understanding the factors affecting commercial performance,
  • Ability to dissect multiple financial data sets to provide focused understanding of performance,
  • Experience of working in a group environment and hands on consolidation experience,
  • Experience of statutory and management accounts preparation.

Desirable skills and experience:

  • Experience of working in a group finance function and consolidating inputs from multiple teams,
  • Knowledge of Tagetik would be an advantage, as would experience with any other financial consolidation systems (MS Dynamics, Sage, Epicor, Hyperion, etc),
  • Knowledge of IFRS accounting.
