Overview

We have a part time Passenger Assistant opportunity available working 16 hours per week. Passenger Assistants provide a vital link for children with or without special educational needs, enabling them to ensure attendance in education. Our vision is to support our children and young people to ensure they are happy, healthy, safe and ambitious so we can help them achieve their potential and dreams.

What will my role look like?

Join NELC as a Passenger Assistant. You will be part of a friendly team who provide an excellent standard of service and support and make a difference to the lives of children and young people eligible for transport provided by our service. Working times are generally arranged around school start and finish times; hours can vary depending on which route you travel, local or neighbouring authority. You will be picked up from your home by our driver and returned after each journey.

Who are we looking for?

You will work closely with children & young people, their parents and carers, showing patience and understanding and be able to communicate with people from all backgrounds, making every journey a positive and enjoyable experience. You may have specialist knowledge of working directly with children with special educational needs. You will be polite, courteous and respectful of confidentiality. A caring, compassionate, and responsible attitude towards children and young adults is essential. A basic knowledge of first aid would be advantageous but is not essential.

This role is a blended working role (the duties of the role may require a blend of home & office working in line with needs of the service).
