Quality Assurance Technician

Location: Belfast

Duration: Initial 6-month contract

Rate: Β£18.81 per hour

Shift Pattern: Continental shifts – 2 day shifts (07:30–19:30), 2 night shifts (19:30–07:30), followed by 4 days off. This is a 24/7 manufacturing operation, so flexibility to work days, nights, weekends, and provide additional cover when required is essential.

About the Role

We are seeking a Quality Assurance Technician to join a leading manufacturing site, supporting quality activities across a fast-paced production environment. Working as part of the Quality team, you will be responsible for ensuring products meet the highest quality and food safety standards through routine inspections, sampling, testing, and compliance monitoring across two high-speed packaging lines.

This role requires a proactive individual who can work independently, identify quality issues quickly, maintain accurate documentation, and build strong working relationships with production teams to promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine quality inspections, sampling, and testing in accordance with site quality standards and sampling plans.
  • Monitor product quality throughout the manufacturing process, identifying and escalating any quality concerns or non-conformances.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, food safety standards, site procedures, and quality management systems.
  • Maintain accurate quality records, inspection reports, sampling documentation, and production data.
  • Coordinate quality activities across two high-speed packaging lines to ensure all scheduled checks are completed on time.
  • Support investigations into quality issues, non-conformances, and customer complaints, assisting with root cause analysis and corrective actions where required.
  • Work closely with Production, Engineering, and other site teams to resolve quality issues and maintain operational standards.
  • Challenge non-compliant behaviours professionally while promoting a strong quality culture across the site.
  • Support internal audits, quality investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping, hygiene, and health & safety within the production environment.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience within a manufacturing, food production, pharmaceutical, FMCG, laboratory, or other regulated environment.
  • Understanding of quality assurance processes, product inspections, sampling, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced production or manufacturing environment where accuracy and attention to detail are essential.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with confidence communicating quality concerns to cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a busy operational environment.
  • Proficient in maintaining accurate documentation and quality records.
