We are seeking a proactive and practical Facilities Technician to join our Facilities Management team. This is a business-critical role, providing an immediate response to building and service issues across our operational estate. You will help ensure our buildings are safe, compliant, and fully operational, supporting staff, tenants, and visitors across a range of sites.

Working as part of a team, you’ll combine hands-on maintenance work with contractor coordination, playing a key role in day-to-day building operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the daily operation of council buildings and community facilities, including fire safety, security, and compliance checks.
  • Carry out maintenance, inspections, and basic repairs across multiple sites.
  • Coordinate and supervise contractors to ensure safe and effective delivery of works.
  • Respond to helpdesk requests and arrange timely repairs.
  • Act as a first point of contact for facilities-related queries, providing excellent customer service.
  • Assist with events, room setup, and general building support.
  • Maintain compliance records, certification, and performance monitoring.
  • Participate in an out-of-hours standby rota and respond to emergency call-outs.
About You
  • Experience working in a facilities or maintenance role.
  • Practical skills in general building maintenance (e.g. plumbing, carpentry, decorating).
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths and English.
  • Strong communication, organisation, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and remain calm under pressure.
  • Willingness to work flexibly, including occasional unsociable hours.
  • Full driving licence.
