This varied and impactful role sits across both the Sustainability and Private Sector Housing teams, giving you the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of projects. You will play a key role in delivering initiatives that reduce emissions, improve housing energy efficiency, and support residents to transition to more sustainable living.
Key responsibilities:
- Leading and supporting energy efficiency and retrofit projects across the borough.
- Delivering and supporting decarbonisation grant schemes and funding bids.
- Providing technical advice on energy efficiency, renewable energy, and carbon reduction.
- Supporting and promoting schemes such as Switch Together (including solar and heat pump initiatives).
- Working with Private Sector Housing to improve compliance and standards in domestic properties.
- Advising residents and stakeholders on energy-saving measures and funding opportunities.
- Organising and promoting energy efficiency events and campaigns.
- Contributing to policy development, reports and climate impact assessments.
You will work closely with internal teams, partners and the community to ensure programmes are effective, accessible and deliver real benefits.
About you:
We’re looking for someone with a strong understanding of climate change and energy efficiency, combined with the ability to deliver projects and engage stakeholders. You will have:
- Experience delivering climate change and/or energy efficiency projects.
- Experience of project management and stakeholder engagement.
- Knowledge of energy efficiency and climate challenges facing local authorities.
- A degree in a relevant subject (or equivalent experience) is required.
- Experience in areas such as funding bids, procurement, or housing-related energy efficiency work would be advantageous.

- An attractive basic salary within a clear pay structure.
- A starting salary of £35,237 increasing to £36,165 after one years service and increasing further to £37,092 upon completion of two years in post (subject to managerial approval).
- 24 days annual leave (increasing to 27 days after 5 years continuous Local Government service) plus three additional days in December and bank holidays.
- Membership of the Local Government (CARE – Career Average (Revalued Earnings) Pension Scheme – Employer contribution of 19.7%.
