We are looking for someone to join our Housing Triage and Allocations team. You will be responsible for assessing housing register applications and the daily running the Council’s Housing Register in accordance with the Council’s Allocations Scheme and Part6 of the Housing Act 1996. This includes making enquiries with customer, obtaining required documentation, evidence, banding decisions, verifications and assisting with shortlists.
Your role will also involve triaging customers who are seeking housing assistance, presenting as homeless or have been threatened with homelessness. You would be required to help carry out the initial enquiries which will support the casework of the Housing Options Advisors. You will be working as part of the Allocations Team alongside other colleagues in the wider Housing Options Team.
Who you will be
We are looking for someone who has worked in a customer facing role within a housing team or post. You will have working knowledge of housing allocations and homelessness legislation along with the understanding of the welfare benefit system and welfare reform changes.
You will need to be resilient and able to deal with complex queries and have experience of working with vulnerable adults and young people. It is important for the successful applicant to demonstrate compassion, empathy and be pragmatic.
