We are looking for a dedicated safeguarding coordinator to join our team. You will act as the first point of contact and provide support to both customers and colleagues, with all matters relating to safeguarding, across Beyond Housing's operating area in North Yorkshire and the East Riding of Yorkshire. You will oversee, manage and monitor all alerts and referrals, providing advice, support and guidance to your colleagues, as well as liaising with customers and external stakeholders. You will ensure all alerts are acted upon promptly and fully investigated to conclusion. You will represent the organisation at safeguarding meetings and work with statutory and third sector partners to develop joint working processes and contribute to strategies regarding safeguarding and Prevent.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee, manage and monitor all safeguarding alerts and referrals.
  • Provide advice, support and guidance to colleagues.
  • Liaise with customers and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure alerts are acted upon promptly and fully investigated to conclusion.
  • Represent the organisation at safeguarding meetings.
  • Work with statutory and third sector partners to develop joint working processes and contribute to safeguarding and Prevent strategies.

Role qualifications

  • Solid knowledge of safeguarding in relation to the Care Act, social care, medical and mental health referral pathways, safeguarding legislation and good practice, and the Mental Capacity Act.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, professional curiosity, and the ability to communicate clearly across all levels; capacity to respond calmly and effectively to a crisis.
  • Approachable, knowledgeable with a calm, unflappable attitude; confidence to take control, issue instructions, provide advice and guide others.
  • Understanding of Trauma-Informed Approach, the government's Prevent agenda, and ability to build professional relationships with local authorities and other services.

Details

The supported living team sits within the housing department, which provides a wide range of support services to enable customers to live independently in their homes. The post is a full-time, permanent position based in Scarborough, with occasional travel to the Redcar office and other operating areas in North and East Yorkshire.
