Our client, based in Westhill, Aberdeen, is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Technician for an initial 3-month contract role, with the opportunity to transition into a permanent staff position. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and supporting filtration and brine plant equipment, ensuring all systems are compliant, reliable, and ready for offshore operations.
Job Purpose
To maintain, repair, and support the operation of plant equipment, ensuring all systems are safe, compliant, and ready for offshore deployment. The role also supports continuous improvement, documentation, and coordination between warehouse and offshore teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Equipment Maintenance & Operations: Perform maintenance, modification, and repair of company equipment, including filtration and brine plant fluid-moving systems. Assemble and disassemble mechanical equipment, conduct system testing, calibration, and environmental screening. Carry out planned and preventative maintenance activities. Service diesel units to a high standard within required deadlines. Provide effective mechanical troubleshooting and technical support to operations teams.
- Compliance & Certification: Ensure all equipment (including hoses and manifolds) holds correct certification for offshore use. Maintain and update maintenance reports, certification records, and documentation packs prior to offshore deployment. Participate in internal, external, and client audits as required.
- Documentation & Administration: Prepare and revise equipment load-out lists based on operational requirements. Maintain asset registers, trackers, and maintenance records. Prepare internal and external equipment movement documentation. Complete paperwork for goods received and returned. Create, update, and maintain maintenance procedures and quality documentation. Use email for all business correspondence.
- Inventory & Stock Control: Manage stock levels of spare parts and equipment. Assist with ordering materials and supplies in line with company procedures. Monitor and evaluate third-party suppliers and rental equipment.
- Team Coordination & Support: Coordinate warehouse and offshore personnel during inspection and maintenance activities. Provide training on equipment service, maintenance, and repair to staff. Liaise with customer representatives as required. Actively contribute to a collaborative team environment.
Key Skills & Experience
- Mechanical Engineering qualification or equivalent experience.
- Relevant offshore or industry certifications (as applicable).
- Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in industrial or fluid-handling equipment.
- Knowledge of filtration and brine systems (desirable).
- Experience with diesel engines and preventative maintenance programs.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation.
